Itinerary

Divers meet at our dive shop at 7:00 AM to check in and get fitted with rental gear. We often see dolphins and whales during the crossing and always stop the boat. The captain decides where we dive based on conditions, but you will always dive one of the Cathedrals and another spectacular location. When we arrive at our first site we do a short briefing and then suit up and dive into the crystal clear waters of Lanai.

As there are very few dive boats diving on Lanai we try to pick a site where we are the only people in the water. We do 60 minute dive, air permitting, to depths around 40 - 85 feet. After the first dive we do a short surface interval where we have a lunch of sandwiches, chips, and fruit. Then we dive again to a depth of 50 - 70 feet for up to an hour.

After the dives we have fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert, take in the stunning topside scenery, and talk about what we found on our dives.

Super friendly and accommodating staff and divemasters. Boat is a bit tight, but workable. Dive sights were just so-so. Fine for newbies but experienced divers will find them mostly unimpressive. We did see a frog fish and nudibranch, but that was really it as far as interesting sea life. May have just been unlucky but it was pretty barren otherwise.

What a terrific bunch! Gu, Maiah, Steven, Brooke, and the entire staff of Dive Maui were first and foremost competent, and professional. Their friendliness and enthusiasm was infectious. We were in excellent hands. We were lucky to be there in the middle of whale season. Just riding in the boat to and from the cathedrals dive sites off Lanai was like a whale watching trip in itself. The boat and scuba equipment were all first rate. We highly recommend them and can't wait to go back.

This was our first dive since pre Covid. Was frustrated to have some problems with my first dive but our dive master, Scott was very helpful. We made some adjustments with equipment and I was good to go the second dive. Scott is very attentive. It’s a small boat which lends toward easy and interaction between divers and staff. The entry was a backward roll which is always fun, with ladders to get back the boat. Turkey wraps between dives were better than most dive boats’ offerings. There was a vegetarian option. On the way back we had some excellent whale walking ch—better than the whale watching trip we took yesterday. The boat captain lingered so we could get a good shot at h in. Would I dive with them again? Absolutely—actually, tomorrow!

Very well run, professional organization. Fully organized from the moment of arrival to rinsing your own gear after the dives. The boat captain went out of here way on the ride to and from Lanai, looking for whales, spinner dolphins and other aquatic life. We felt totally safe the whole experience as safety is clearly a priority here. Our group was led by Scott, who was very knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. The dives were a great experience, beautiful volcanic structures and abundant sea life. I would go again in a heartbeat!!

Did the Lanai dive tour, had a good time with the dive masters and captain. This dive has more coral and rock formations than animals - personally I like seeing the critters more but I still enjoyed the dive! Lunch was a deli sandwich or pasta salad (vegetarian option). They also had snacks and water. We met at their small shop, walked over to the boat ramp, and set off for the tour. We were lucky and saw whales breaching just as we were heading out, so the captain paused to let us whale watch before heading to the dive site. We were also lucky and saw a monk seal in between our dives, with the captain's help of course. I wouldn't count on either of these happening though :) Gu was our guide and gave the briefing as we were boating to Lanai, asking about our experience level and introducing us to the dives and some of the wildlife we would see. Both dives were cool, Gu pointed out some critters like frogfish and barracuda, and we swam by a lot of coral and rock formations, we even went back into the cathedral for a second round of quick photos!

My husband and I did both the two-tank Cathedral/Sergeant Major boat dives with Maiah, Gu (Gustavo) and Captain Steve. We also did the Mala Shore Dive with Gu 2 days earlier as a refresher course since we hadn't been diving since 2016. Mala was amazing, even though we just walked from the shop into the water - white tip reef sharks, turtles at their cleaning stations, moray eels and more! Gu was top notch to review with and the equipment that we rented was great! The boat dives were not only beautiful (especially the Chandelier Coral!), but so well run. They were obviously very competent dive masters. They educated us about the site and the life forms we might encounter, had things very well organized, and most importantly were very conscientious about group safety during the dives. Captain Steve had the perfect music playlist and to top everything, managed to get us right into the middle of some serious humpback whale activity! We have already decided that when we return to Maui, this will be our diving destination!

My husband and I had heard that Lanai Cathedrals is a bucket list kind of dive, so we added it to our itinerary while we were visiting Maui, and signed up with Dive Maui. What a GREAT experience! Scott and crew were great, very informative, and led a great set of beautiful dives with the small group of us there! It was small enough to just really relax into the dive; we had a dozen who had signed up, and we were split into 2 groups of 6, with 2 different Dive Masters. One the way back from Lanai, we made a few pit stops due to whales, and also a huge pod of spinner dolphins that surrounded us! Perfect end to a wonderful experience! Thank you; we will definitely book with you again when we return to Maui!!!

I did the 2 tank Lanai Cathedral Dive with Dive Maui in January. It was terrific. They are very well organized and take care of everything. The dive masters (Scott and Renee) and boat captain (Shantal) were very knowledgeable about the area and marine life. We even paused a few times to watch some whales. It was a great morning and I would highly recommend using them.

There was a lot of different things to see and Brian did a great job of pointing things out to us. This was a great experience and I recommend using Dive Maui. The whales are there in January, and we could hear them the entire time. So cool!! They gave us a free ($65 value) whale watching credit for diving with them which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately it was overcast this day, so you didn't get the full Cathedral lighting experience (stain glass effect), but still very nice.

My boyfriend and I basically did all the activities. The cathedral dives in Lanai were amazing. We did 2 tank shore dives twice and a night dive. Whale watching was also great with this company. Chelsea, Abbi and Gu were excellent guides. I have already recommended them to people who will be coming to Maui in the future. Overall we saw amazing animals and had lots of fun!
